Today, Congressman Glenn Ivey (MD-04) sent a letter to President Donald Trump demanding the immediate return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador, to the United States, despite having been granted protection from deportation by a United States immigration court. Despite the Trump Administration admitting Mr. Abrego Garcia’s removal was a mistake and the Supreme Court ordering the facilitation of his return, the Trump Administration has indicated repeatedly it does not intend to comply with the Supreme Court’s order and bring Mr. Abrego Garcia back to the United States. Mr. Abrego Garcia is a Maryland resident, living in Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District with his U.S. citizen wife and family.

Delia Ramirez"Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and Senator Richard Blumenthal (CT) reintroduced the landmark, bicameral bill, Protecting Sensitive Locations Act, during the 119th Congress. This pivotal legislation would codify commonsense protections for immigrant communities at sensitive locations amid the onslaught of attacks on immigrants, including vulnerable immigrant families. The Protecting Sensitive Locations Act for the 119th is co-led by Representatives Don Beyer, Sylvia Garcia, Pramila Jayapal, Suzanne Bonamici, Chuy Garcia, Jasmine Crockett, and Delia C. Ramirez."

Judy Chu (CA-28) and Sen. Chris Coons (DE) reintroduced the National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants (NO BAN) Act, which would prevent future bans by the Trump administration on people of Islamic faith, or any other religious group, by strengthening the Immigration and Nationality Act to prohibit discrimination based on religion. The bill would also require that any suspension of entry into the United States be narrowly tailored, backed by credible evidence, and subject to appropriate consultation with Congress. In the House, the bill is co-led by Reps. Nadler (NY-12), Don Beyer (VA-08), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), André Carson (IN-07), and Rashida Tlaib (MI-12)."
Rep. Don Beyer, Rep. André Carson, Rep. Judy Chu, Sen. Chris Coons, Rep. Jerry Nadler, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib"Today, Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) and Sen. Chris Coons (DE) led a bicameral partnership of their Democratic colleagues to introduce H.R. 9244, the National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants (NO BAN) Act—legislation that will prevent future Muslim bans. The NO BAN Act will strengthen the Immigration and Nationality Act to prohibit discrimination on the basis of religion, and restore checks and balances by limiting overly broad executive authority to issue future travel bans."
