Shaheen Statement on Voting to Advance the Bipartisan Laken Riley Act
Jan. 9, 2025

“I have long called for Congress to do more to address our nation’s broken immigration system. Last year, I supported and voted twice in favor of the bipartisan border security bill that Republicans and Democrats negotiated in good faith until Donald Trump came out against it. I voted in favor of considering this bill because I strongly support efforts to improve our immigration enforcement and protect public safety and I hope that there is an amendment process that provides the opportunity to improve the bill.”
