"Congressman Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-31) released the following statement after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained an undocumented mother and her son in El Monte. The mother does not have a criminal background and the son had already served a sentence nearly a decade ago. The mother is the primary caretaker for her daughter, who is battling bone cancer."
Rep. Gil Cisneros"Today, Congressman Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. released the following statement after President Trump signed Executive Orders purported to be policy, but in fact target immigrants, undermine Constitutional rights, provoke political culture war issues, and do nothing to benefit the American people"
Rep. Gil CisnerosToday, Congressman Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. voted against Republicans’ H.R. 30, a disingenuous immigration bill that would put domestic violence survivors at risk of deportation. Current United States immigration law already addresses the offenses outlined in H.R. 30, and this poorly written bill would in fact target innocent survivors who acted in self-defense or were wrongly accused. In addition, this bill’s reach extends to green card holders, DACA recipients, and others with legal status.
