Rep. Troy E. Nehls and Sen. Ted Cruz Reintroduce the Justice for Jocelyn Act
Jan. 14, 2025

Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) reintroduced the bicameral Justice for Jocelyn Act. This legislation would improve the detention and tracking of illegal aliens entering the United States.

“The Venezuelan illegal aliens who murdered 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray should have never been released into our country,” said Congressman Nehls. “I am proud to reintroduce the Justice for Jocelyn Act alongside Senator Ted Cruz to ensure tragedies like the death of Jocelyn never happen again. Congress must put the safety of the American people first by swiftly passing this legislation and getting it to President Trump’s desk as soon as possible.”

“Last year, I began the fight for justice for 12-year-old Jocelyn,” said Senator Cruz. “The aliens responsible for her murder crossed the southern border illegally and should have been detained by ICE. Democrats’ reckless open-border policies prevented ICE and Border Patrol agents from acting, left thousands of detention center beds empty, and allowed these criminals to go free. Congress should act with urgency to ensure no other American family ever has to endure what Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, has been forced to face. Standing alongside Alexis in this fight for justice has been an immense privilege, and I will not stop fighting until our communities are safe and justice is served.”

Blackburn, Cornyn, GOP Colleagues Introduce Bill to Stop Biden-Harris Amnesty Program
Oct. 30, 2024

"U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), and 12 of their colleagues introduced the Visa Integrity Preservation Act, which would close a loophole in current law that the Biden-Harris administration exploited in a June 2024 executive action to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants who entered the United States without inspection or overstayed a visa:

“Since day one in office, the Biden-Harris administration has made it crystal clear that they support an open border and providing mass amnesty to illegal immigrants through unlawful catch-and-release programs,” said Senator Blackburn. “Our Visa Integrity Preservation Act would stop the Biden-Harris administration from devaluing U.S. citizenship and making illegal immigration legal."

"U.S. Senator Steve Daines joined his Republican colleagues in introducing the “Visa Integrity Preservation Act,” which will halt the Biden-Harris administration’s violation of the “Immigration and Nationality Act” by ending its policy of allowing immigrants who illegally entered the U.S. or overstayed their visas to regularize their status through obtaining temporary work visas."

Cornyn, Cruz, Tillis, 11 GOP Colleagues Introduce Bill to Stop Biden-Harris Amnesty Program
Sept. 26, 2024

"U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Jim Risch (R-ID), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Ted Budd (R-NC), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Steve Daines (R-MT), Katie Britt (R-AL), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), James Lankford (R-OK), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced their Visa Integrity Preservation Act, which would close a loophole in current law that the Biden-Harris administration took advantage of in a June 2024 executive action to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants who entered the United States without inspection or overstayed a visa:

“For almost four years, the Biden-Harris administration has waived their magic amnesty wand to create unlawful programs that allow any and every person to enter and stay in the U.S. – legally or not,” said Sen. Cornyn. “By strengthening the laws already on the books, our legislation would root out this massive pull factor while also preserving the integrity of our employment-based nonimmigrant visa program, and I’m grateful to my colleagues for their support.”
