This resolution expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that a National Garifuna Immigrant Heritage Month should be established to celebrate the significant contributions of Americans of recent Garifuna immigrant heritage to the history of the United States.

The Garifuna people are a people of mixed free African and indigenous American ancestry that originated in the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent and speak Garifuna, an Arawakan language, and Vincentian Creole.
