Laken Riley symbolized Biden-Harris border crisis
A Georgia judge found Jose Ibarra guilty of killing University of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley this week. Ibarra, a member of the violent Tren de Aragua criminal gang, crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally in 2022 and was released into the United States under Pres. Biden's catch-and-release policy. His brutal murder of Laken Riley came to represent the Biden-Harris border crisis.
Ibarra was also found guilty of aggravated battery, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape, obstructing a person making an emergency phone call, tampering with evidence, and a peeping tom offense. He's been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Not only did the case highlight the administration's border policies and the direct threat to public safety and national security, but it also highlighted sanctuary city policies. Athens, Ga., the home of the University of Georgia, is a sanctuary jurisdiction prohibiting local police from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Pres.-elect Donald Trump has pledged to reverse the careless and dangerous immigration policies of the Biden-Harris Administration and to execute the largest deportation effort in U.S. history. He announced that Tom Homan, who served as Acting Director of ICE during the first Trump Administration, will serve as White House Border Czar. Homan will be responsible for overseeing Trump's deportation effort and has issued a stern warning for sanctuary jurisdictions.
"They don’t have to help us, but they need to get the hell out of the way cuz we're coming, we’re gonna do it. Which means if I gotta send twice as many resources to that sanctuary city, twice as many agents, that's exactly what I'm going to do," Homan told Newsmax earlier this week.
While cities claim that sanctuary policies increase trust between the community and its law enforcement officers, there's no evidence to support the claim. The Center for Immigration Studies has found that crimes committed against immigrants are reported at a higher rate than crimes committed against native-born Americans.
The Immigration Accountability Project will continue to hold sanctuary jurisdictions accountable for their reckless policies. We also will do everything we can to support President Trump’s border security and deportation plans. You can learn more by following our X/Twitter account at https://x.com/I_A_Project.
Welfare recipients, criminals allowed to sponsor illegal immigrants under Biden 'parole' program
If you thought we had seen the worst of the Biden Administration's illegal parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV), the House Judiciary Committee released a report detailing extensive fraud and mismanagement in the program. Stephen Dinan breaks down the report, which covered how welfare recipients, criminals, and even parolees were allowed to sponsor other parolees to enter the country. If you'd like to do a deep dive, the full interim report is available here.
Biden admin quietly loosening immigration policies before Trump takes office — including letting migrants skip ICE check-ins in NYC
While the Biden Administration enters its final months, its immigration officials are actively making a mess for the incoming Trump Administration. Jennie Taer of the New York Post reveals that the Department of Homeland Security is planning to release a new ICE Portal app to allow illegal aliens who have been released into the interior to "virtually" check in with their local ICE office instead of showing up in person. If the security risk of that policy isn't clear enough, they are also working to loosen electronic tracking for aliens who were caught and released.
Massive groups of illegal immigrants nabbed at border amid fears of pre-Trump border surge
Unfortunately, as expected, news outlets like the one from Fox above are reporting that waves of illegal aliens are beginning to make their journeys to the southern border prior to President-elect Trump taking office in January. The message has been received: the Biden Administration is turning a blind eye to fraud and ramping up catch-and-release, so now is the time to get in. This LiveNOW Fox interview with Auden Cabello covers a new caravan of roughly 1,500 in Mexico.
Illegal migrant accused of killing Laken Riley took free Biden admin flight to Georgia — where he ‘hunted her down’
Earlier this year, the nation's attention was captured by the tragic murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley by an illegal alien who had been released by the Biden Administration. The murderer, Jose Ibarra, was sentenced this week to life in prison without parole. It was revealed during the trial that Ibarra, a Tren de Agua gang member from Venezuela, had flown to Georgia from New York for free with a taxpayer-funded plane ticket.
Biden-Harris DHS to Funnel 65K More Foreign Workers into Blue-Collar Jobs
The Biden Administration's lame-duck damage isn't limited to illegal immigration. Last week, the Administration nearly doubled the number of H-2B visas available for the rest of the year. H-2B visas are temporary, seasonal, non-agricultural visas with a long history of abuse by employers who want cheap labor. A bipartisan alliance in Congress has allowed these increases in appropriations bills and continuing resolutions for years, without bothering to fix the program. If you'd like to dig into some of the problems in the H-2 visa program, check out this article from 2015, "All You Americans Are Fired".
Chip Roy demands answers from Biden administration over 150,000 lost unaccompanied migrant children
Congressman Chip Roy (R, TX-21) is not going to allow the outgoing administration to escape culpability. This week, he sent a letter to impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, demanding answers above the 150,000 unaccompanied alien children (UACs) who the Biden Administration lost contact with, and requesting that they preserve all documents and materials relating to their UAC policies.
