Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act

This bill mandates the use of E-Verify for all employers, including federal agencies and contractors, within a year of enactment. Employers can verify employment eligibility prior to hiring or within three days of an employment offer. Further, employers are required to screen all employees who have not previously been verified through E-Verify within a year and reverify current employees when their work authorization is due to expire. Finally, fines are increased substantially for violations.
