Sanctuary City Accountability Act

This bill

  • Creates a private right of action for American nationals against sanctuary jurisdictions.
  • Defines sanctuary jurisdiction as those:
    • Refusing to comply with detainer requests, 
    • Imposing unreasonable conditions on compliance with detainer requests,
    • Denying ICE access to interview detainees, OR
    • Otherwise impeding communications between personnel and ICE.
  • Limits liability for units of government complying with a State sanctuary policy requirement.
