No Housing Welfare for Illegal Aliens Act

This bill:

  • Ends "mixed-status" prorated housing assistance, requiring verification of every household member;
  • Limits federal housing grant funds to citizens and lawful permanent residents;
  • Bars the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from issuing grants to any State or locality if that entity runs any housing or community development program that provides assistance to illegal aliens; and
  • Cuts off Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program grants to any entity or local government that:
    • Fails to share immigration status information with the federal government;
    • Declines to honor detainer requests from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE);
    • Restricts cooperation with federal immigration enforcement in any way; or
    • Fails to provide advanced notice before releasing a removable noncitizen from custody.
