Crime Survivor Support and Stability Act of 2026
This bill is primarily focused on funds for crime victims. However, it has several immigration implications. First, it establishes a $40 million annual grant program that provides direct, taxpayer-funded cash assistance to crime survivors and strictly prohibits participating organizations from turning anyone away based on their citizenship or immigration status. Beyond financial aid, the bill encourages states to guarantee legal assistance for immigration issues and asserts that survivors' rights to housing, trauma care, and employment protections should remain unrestricted by their immigration status. Furthermore, the legislation prioritizes federal grant funding for organizations with a history of serving immigrant populations and mandates state-level data collection to track the post-victimization experiences of survivors, specifically regarding their immigration status.
