Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2026

This bill provides FY2026 appropriations to the Department of Commerce, the Department of Justice (DOJ), the science agencies, and several related agencies, and also contains several immigration-related measures:

  • Sec. 557 blocks funds from being used to pay a compromise settlement to an illegal alien;
  • Sec. 601 blocks funds from being used to pay fees or costs of fees incurred by illegal aliens;
  • Sec. 553 blocks funds from being used to pay for legal proceedings for aliens in removal proceedings;
  • Sec. 554 blocks funds from being used to incentivize judges to dismiss cases without adjudicating the merits of the case;
  • Sec. 555 attempts to block SCAAP funds from sanctuary jurisdictions, but its actual impact would be virtually insignificant;
  • Sec. 556 blocks funds from being used to allow the Census Bureau to include illegal aliens in apportionment in subsequent decennial censuses;
  • Sec. 545 blocks funds from being used to carry out the Biden Administration's asylum rule from 2022; and
  • Sec. 546 blocks funds from being used for categorical administrative closures of cases in immigration court.
