No Tax Breaks for Sanctuary Cities Act

This bill uses tax policy against sanctuary jurisdictions.

  • It expands the definition of sanctuary cities to include those that do not comply with detainers, and makes a list of such jurisdictions public.
  • It would amend the Internal Revenue Code to make municipal bonds issued by a designated sanctuary jurisdiction taxable at the federal level.
    • This would increase borrowing costs for jurisdictions that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
