Emergency Grant Aid for College Students Act

This bill:

  • Establishes a federal grant program authorizing the Secretary of Education to provide funds to institutions of higher education for the distribution of emergency financial aid grants to enrolled students;

  • Explicitly dictates that no individual shall be determined ineligible to receive these taxpayer-funded benefits on the basis of citizenship, alienage, or immigration status, effectively mandating that emergency grants be made available to illegal aliens;

  • Exempts these emergency grants from being treated as income or assets when determining eligibility for other public benefits, compounding the financial subsidies available to alien populations; and

  • Grants institutions of higher education the sole discretion to determine which students receive these emergency funds.
