DHS Community Consultation Act of 2026
This bill requires the Department of Homeland Security to consult local officials, evaluate infrastructure impacts, and hold public comment periods before building or leasing immigration detention facilities. It also prohibits constructing such facilities where barred by local ordinances, retrofitting non-residential commercial structures, and using military bases for immigration detention.
