This update rescinds aspects of USCIS’ guidance of September 27, 2023, and reduces the validity period for certain EAD categories so that USCIS can more frequently review an alien’s background.

Millions of aliens have been granted employment authorization outside the statutory framework. Shortening the validity period is a welcome change, but USCIS must begin to eliminate policies that grant employment authorization outside the scope of the laws passed by Congress.
